Les Reynolds Commitment to Excellence Award. Established to honor Les Reynolds, founder of the Safety Council of the Ozarks, this award is the highest regional award presented by the Safety Council of the Ozarks and was presented to AMR-Topeka.  This award recognizes AMR's Topeka recycling facility as the company with the largest percent difference between their industry average and their internal record.

Ozarks Regional Safety Award. This award is presented to those companies that strive to provide a culture of safety at their workplace, with safety practices and accident rates which are better than the industry average.  Eight AMR scrap metal recycling facilities earned this prestigious 2013 Ozarks Safety Excellence Award:  Emporia and the Cheyenne and Transportation locations in Kansas City, Kansas and Clarence, Clinton, Columbia, Holts Summit, and Linn Creek, Missouri.

On November 30, 2012, Advantage Metals Recycling (AMR) purchased the assets and business of Nuelle’s 4X4 Salvage in Higginsville, Missouri. Founded in 1986, Nuelle operates a scrap metal processing facility and a full-service used auto parts store at 19861 Outer Road near the junction of Interstate 70 and Highway 13.

The addition of this new location is consistent with AMR’s growth strategy and demonstrates DJJ’s commitment to expanding its existing regional recycling platforms.

Advantage Metals Recycling is Kansas and Missouri’s largest scrap recycler. AMR is headquartered in Kansas City, has over 350 employees and now operates 15 recycling facilities. AMR’s Higginsville Missouri recycling center buys automobiles, scrap iron and steel as well as common household nonferrous scrap metal items like aluminum cans and other aluminum, stainless steel, copper and brass products. In addition, they sell used auto parts on site.

  This acquisition represents another step in Nucor's previously announced plan to utilize DJJ as a platform for cotinued growth in the scrap processing industry. 1,000,000 tons of scrap processing and 23 locations through four acquisitions. Our DJJ team is just getting started on our growth strategy through both acquisitions and greenfield operations.

  Nucor is the largest purchaser of ferrous scrap in North America, with total scrap purchases of 22.8 million tons in 2007. Nucor and affiliates are manufacturers of steel products, with operating facilities primarily in the U.S. and Canada. Products produced include: carbon and alloy steel -- in bars, beams, sheet and plate; steel joists and joist girders; steel deck; fabricated concrete reinforcing steel; cold finished steel; steel fasteners; metal building systems; light gauge steel framing; steel grating and expanded metal; and wire and wire mesh. Nucor, through DJJ, also brokers ferrous and nonferrous metals, pig iron and HBI/DRI; supplies ferro-alloys; and processes ferrous and nonferrous scrap. Nucor is North America's largest recycler.

  DJJ will operate the Galamba Metals Group facilities under the Advantage Metals Recycling, LLC name. Galamba's current employees and management team will remain with Advantage Metals Recycling. Nucor and DJJ welcome the Galamba/Advantage Metals Recycling management team and employees to the Nucor family.
